Grohe spares for thermostatic mixers

The temperature control requires a thermostatic cartridge. Most Grohe thermostats are based upon an expanding/contracting wax element

The flow control required will depend upon where the mixer can feed two outlets (eg bath and shower or 2x shower outlets) or only one outlet (eg shower).  The cartridge for flow to two outlets will usually incorporate a diverter (aquadimmer) function which allows it to turn in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions from a central off position. Most flow cartridges are based upon ceramic disk technology requiring only a part turn to be fully on, a few are based upon conventional screwdown valves requiring multi turns.
